For more than two years, I've been part of the tango community in Devon. And I wasn’t expecting such a warm welcome, or the level of support and encouragement I’ve received.

Teachers like Stania, Ruth, Fernando, Roy and Yanna have each, in their own way, given me lessons that helped me improve my dance.

And through the practice sessions and milongas, many dancers have become friends.

There's a long journey ahead, but I'm grateful to know you have my back, that you won't judge me, and that I can trust you and dance with you.

Now I'm opening a new space in Totnes. It's a dance space, though not one focused entirely on tango.

I wouldn't call myself a teacher. You should see my pivots. Ocho cortado? Not quite, though Stania taught me the basics the other day.

So no, I'm not teaching tango. And in a way, I am.

For some years, I've been writing about what's actually alive in my dance: the space we create in an embrace, how we listen through the body, how we meet one another through movement.

Dance in Conversation is now becoming a space to explore some of this together, in person.

We'll work with weight, balance, walking, pausing and connection, dancing with a partner without worrying about steps or figures.

It's a journey I'm dividing into small gatherings. The first, this October, is about Landing. In November we move into Meeting: exploring how we meet and dance together.

It's been months of training, dancing and co-creating with my mentor, and now the invitation is out.

Landing is about finding our feet, feeling our weight, connecting with the ground, and noticing how this changes the way we meet one another.

Expect a mix of solo grounding work and slow, attentive movement with another person. No dance experience needed, no memorising steps.

Come and dance with me.
